List countries from which the United States acquired territory between 1803 and 1853

The periods between the 1783 and 1850's were a great time for land acquisiton by the newly formed United States. In fact, during this period, the U. S government bought and annexed several territories which ended up conforming part of what is the U. S map today. Among the countries from which the U. S bought and acquired land during this time are: France, in 1803, from whom was acquired the Louisiana Territory. Spain, in 1819, from whom Florida was bought. In 1845, the annexation of Texas and in 1846, through a treaty with Great Britain, the U. S acquired the Oregon Territory. In 1848, several western territories were annexed to the U. S after their cession from Mexico and finally, in 1853, the Gadsden Purchase in northern Mexico.
