    Explanation: In 1837 the French mathematician, Pierre Laurent Wantzel, proved that it was impossible to use only compass and straightedge.

    The duplication of the cube is based on the equation x3 = 2a3, the solution of this equation can not be expressed in square roots, which are those that can be built with ruler and compass. Therefore the claim about the Greeks is false.
