Cocaine is a crystalline and strong stimulant tropane alkaloid used primarily as a recreational drug. The most common forms of consumption are inhalation, insufflation or injection into a vein. The mental effects they cause include the loss of contact with reality, aggressiveness, the sharpening of alertness and persecutory mania, an intense feeling of happiness and psychomotor agitation. Symptoms at the physical level are rapid heart rate, sweating and dilating the pupils and high doses can cause high blood pressure and increased body temperature. The effects begin just a few seconds (or minutes) after consumption and last between five and ninety minutes. In the long term, its uncontrolled use produces addiction, panic attacks, mental disorders and even death, either by direct physiological effects (overdose), or by self killing due to maniac inductions.
