A treaty is an agreement between 2 or more parties. The topic (s) agreed upon may, but does not have to-pertain to armed conflict. An armistice, on the other hand-is a treaty whereby a cessation of armed conflict is agreed upon. Sometimes, the armistice is the first step towards a more permanent peace treaty.

Treaty: A formally concluded and ratified agreement between countries

Armistice: An agreement made by opposing sides in a war to stop fighting for a certain amount of time; truce

Therefore the difference between a treaty and a armistice is that a treaty is a permanent binding agreement of international law while an armistice is a formal agreement to end fighting for a period of time.
