    Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (b. 1881 in Thessaloniki, officially May 19, d. November 10, 1938 in Istanbul) - Turkish politician, military, co-founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey.

    During World War I was one of the most important commanders of the army of the Ottoman Empire. After the defeat in the war objected to partitions Turkey and led the war of independence. In independent Turkey assumed the office of President, carrying out a series of political, economic and cultural reforms, transforming the Ottoman Empire into a modern nation-state
