What caused the United States to enter a war thousands of miles away in Europe? Mexico decided to side with the Allied powers. Germany sank the British passenger ship Lusitania. Germany would not agree to end its naval attacks. The Allies succeeded in occupying Constantinople.

    Germany sank the British Passenger Ship Lusitania although it could also be that Germany would not agree to end its naval attacks. Most likely the first one I stated.
