    In the years just before World War I, the Ottoman Empire was already weak and in decline. It was a slow process but the Ottoman Empire was in decline since 1683. Also, the great decline took place in the 19th century.

    The Ottoman Empire was also known as the Turkish empire and was founded at the conclusion of the 13th century by the tribal leader of Oghuz Turkish, Osman.
