Geographically speaking Cuba and the state of Florida are very close and maintain the same freedom of access to international import and export partners. Before mass immigration and/or exile/asylum to Florida's south coast the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 surely shaped the relationship with the US and Cuba for more than six decades. The discovery of Russian armaments in Cuba (with domestic support) realized the true intentions of Cuba and their partners (Russia). Once the Castro Regime cemented communism and Russia and the United States had entered the Cold War, Cuba appeared to be the enemy inside the lines. Thus as Cuba closed of further the nations domestic, socio-economic condition equally worsened. Cuba's deteriorating internal politics and relationships forced citizens to seek refuge, inflating Florida with an impoverished population, crowding cities and slowly changing small subcultures into the vast majority culture in the area.
