John Muir wrote often about the connectedness of nature and therefore the quote, "When we try to pick out anything (in nature) by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." (A) The quote is often misquoted as coming from John Muir himself, but in fact it did not but does represent his philosophy on the connection between different parts of nature.
