    The ethnic conflict in the Balkans in 1989 was caused by Yugoslavian republics declaring independence after Serbia attempted to dominate minority groups - B.

    The nations which lived in Yugoslavia had longh sought to be independent, such tendencies that were coming from Serbia were now the last straw which was needed for them to take action.
