In the story "Miss Brill" by Katherine Mansfield, the protagonist, an old woman herself, describes two old people sitting on her bench with some disdain due to their age. Later in the story, a young couple arrives, who speak of Miss Brill in a condescending manner. What technique of fiction is used here to add depth to the narrative? irony parody foreshadowing metaphor

    I believe that it is irony. for a metaphor it doesn't compare without like or as, so it cant be, foreshadowing, how is it foreshadowing, and what? and parody means it is making a different view of it. (sorry, i do not know how to describe parody without confusing everyone.)
