The Albany Plan of Union was the predecessor to the Articles of Confederation.

    Explanation:

The Albany Congress was a meeting convened by the British Chamber of Commerce in 1754 in Albany, New York, United States. This assembly called for the union of the English colonies in North America, to some extent guarantee a defensive alliance against the French before their attack and for the Indian Wars.

Among the delegates was Benjamin Franklin, who supported a plan to unify the seven colonies, the Albany Plan of Union, but it was never assumed. The project eventually became a model of proposals made during the War of Independence of the United States, and was in fact the basis for the subsequent national organization under the Articles of Confederation.
