The Salem witch trials were a series of trials of people accused of witchcraft. These took place between 1692 and 1693 in colonial Massachusetts, and resulted in the hanging of nineteen people. It was the deadliest witch hunt in colonial America. It is also a famous example of the dangers of mass hysteria and lack of due process in law.
