The election of 2008 was unique in American history because b) The first African American president was elected. This was when Barack Obama became president of the United States. He has been elected twice and is part of the Democratic party. This was unique in America's history, because every president before him was white. It stands out even more, as the United States still experiences racial tension and inequality today and this was something that had been unforeseen before.
