The correct answer is "approving legislation for debate on the house floor.

The legislative power in Georgia is in hands of the General Assembly, which is bicameral, like the federal goverment, and therefore is composed by two chambers: the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The legislative process works as follows. Laws are initially proposed by the citizens, and when a legislator formally writes this propositions they become bills. These bills are read aloud in the chambers (House or Senate), and if they gain enough support there, they are examined by a group of representatives who form a committee. In the committee the bill is discussed, and its members decide whether it should go further or not in the legislative process.

If the committees choose so, the bills would go back the the house floor for ratification or rejection.
