Many literary techniques are used by the famous British playwright Christopher Marlow in order to portray the rural and idyllic life of shepherds as one that is filled withtranquility and beauty. Take his descriptions of the seemingly eternal movement of the herds and the singing birds in line 5-8 work to establish a serene and calm mood as your example of such techniques. Also, the way that Marlowe describes the nomadic life of shepherds (lines 1-4) through which he emphasizes the idea that the whole world is their home, as well as the shepherd’s romantic gestures in lines 9-16 brings up an idealistic perspective on their lives. This is how they are portrayed as people who are full of love and compassion, even though they are very poor and live off their land and work.
