The Funk Brothers were studio musicians in Detroit who performed the music for a majority of records for the Motown label from 1959 to 1972.

They provided backing for many recording artists including Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and more. They also sometimes moonlighted for other artists beyond the Motown label.
