    America as a country was divided into two parts by the reason of the major careers of the citizens. The north is industrialized while the south deals in agricultural products. The northeast was part of the agricultural states. During the time of president Jackson there was an increase in the tariff paid on the cotton products and this discourage other countries from buying raw cotton from the south. The agricultural states therefore asked that the president reduce the tariff on cotton products in order to encourage other countries from buying cotton from them.
