    The federalist are basically what it sounds like. They supported the idea of a large federal government with power.

    (This is taken directly from my US History notes)

    *A federalist is a person who supported the new constitution (the one signed in July 4th 1766 I think)

    *agreed to have a strong, central government

    *believed the Bill of Rights is not necessary and think it's probably dangerous since the Bill of Rights might limit powers of federal government too much that the government is similar to one with the Articles of Confederation.

    (Articles of Confederation government: weak, disorganized,)

    *wanted the legislatures to ratify or approve this Constitution

    *they wrote a series of 85 defending the Constitution aka The Federalist Papers
