    Answer: France (absolute monarchy, paradoxically, but understandably) of Louis XVI. Traces of such alliance : Statue of Liberty and general La Fayette.

    Explanation: For France the American war for independence was quite expensive business ... one of the factors that contributed to the outburst of the French revolution in 1789 (as Jacques Necker remined to the king Louis before calling for General States).
