    Well, if you are religious, you might go with Judas Iscariot.

    But anyways, there are many misunderstood people in History. It can't really be just a single individual. I would say that Genghis Khan was ONE OF the most misunderstood persons in history. He understands incorrectly while thinking one has understood correctly. His hometown was at Temüjin, was the patron and Great Khan emperor of the Mongol Imperialism/Empire.
