Observations of a Soldier in WW1

Private Archie Surfleet, February 8th, 1918-We have been in camp near the wood at Ecurie for some days now and a more miserable existence it would be hard to imagine. There is nothing but unrest and uncertainly and everyone here is absolutetly fed up to the teeth.

    I think it could be the 4th, because of what he says in his observation about the conditions he was living in the end. It seems he's giving up, in my opinion.
