To unified the government. Before the Articles of Confederation existed, each states were independence from eachother. Which mean that they act alone in its best interest. Now that wasn't really good for America because each state's government has different opinion. So they created the Articles of Confederation, just like I said, to unified the government. This will cause the government to be stronger. It made the states and legislature very powerful. The Judical were very limited, while the Executive didn't even existed. The result of the Articles of Confederation causes the government to be weaker. So in May 1787, a convention literary ripped up the Articles of Confederation, and started a new one. It was the new U. S. Constitution. The U. S. Constitution is still standing today. It may not be the best law, but it's better than the Articles of Confederation.
