A period of time (1820-1870) in which buildings & factories began replacing farms. Instead of mass production being in farming & livestock, more production was in factories. More people began getting jobs in factories as opposed to farms because of this. The industrial revolution started in northern united states and mostly remained north, however, it did slowly travel south.
