After the fall of the Roman Empire in 476 AD, all of Europe was plunged into the Dark Ages, a time when education and intelligence was lost, and people sought solace in the idea that anything that they couldn't explain, like the solar system, was simply the work of God.

    It was during the Renaissance that science and intellectual thinking finally started to make a comeback.
