How does the conflict in the democratic republic of congo relate to western consumption?

    Since mass consumption was already a thing in the western world and the United States was a huge manufacturer, the other powers had no problems with giving US resources from Congo in order to have them manufacture things for mass markets including things like fancy jewelry or technology or anything similar which only increased consumerism.
