The reason migrants tend to cluster in a single area is because it provides social capital, understood as a network of people who share interpersonal relationships, interests, goals, values, identity and norms and thus work together to succeed as a group rather than as individuals. Since migrants often have little to no support when arriving to a new country, the social capital provided by ethnic enclaves is crucial for economic and social success.
