The U. K originally partially engaged to the America Confederate States for their vast trade ties with the state. The United Kingdom’s major source of the cotton is the Confederacy and its union obstruction in the Confederacy prevented the British Productions to operate. During the Civil War, U. K imported cotton from Egypt which was more costly. When the Union made its intention clear in which to free slaves in the Freedom Declaration, backup the Confederacy, the union became politically untenable. For that reason, the United Kingdom stayed unbiased and silently supported the Union in the last years of Civil War.
