How did the passage of compulsory school attendance laws affect child labor in the United States? Children received better training to work in factories. Children could not work in factories if they had to attend school. Children worked in special factories that were opened in schools. Children were paid more to attend school than to work in factories.

    Compulsory schooling provided an immediate ramification on child labor. It retained children in schools for a longer time. This caused job opportunities to become limited for the children during these hours. The fight against child labor began with two hours of mandatory education for children each day.
