Greece invented elections, structured learning (philosophy, poetry and the " educated class " Greece was also the first civilization since Greek to keep meticulous records on medicine, the arts, and learning so Rome's ambitions leaned that way as they aspired to be a great and wealthy empire. What they didn't like about Greece was the homosexuality of the male population and didn't like how they were so open about its practices.
