Raw materials, colonial empires, new markets

    Explanation:

The major reason for the increased interest of a country in so many other countries is for the access to more raw materials, for bigger new market and for the colonial empire.

With the industrial revolution the countries in Europe started to search for new market to sell their products. Also, those countries had raw materials which could be obtained at lower price and were of good quality.

They were also interested in showing off military strength and colonizing a country could offer them more recruitment in their military.
