The oath upholds the principle in the Bill of Rights that the monarch can’t change laws without consulting Parliament. 2) The oath mentions that the queen agrees to preserve the Protestant religion. The Bill of Rights aimed to preserve England as a Protestant country and excluded Catholics from becoming monarchs.
