    What were some main differences between rome and the byzantine empire? • Leaders of the roman empire were nearly always chosen from the patrician class so often times even though peole weren't quite talented for an empire they were still put in empire because patrician• Byzantine empire went away from this idea and began the idea of meritocracy o Based on merit skill ability talento Puts officials in that were actual good at their specific jobso A positive change• Also Constantinople was officialy a Christian city while rome could some degree to say that towards the end of the empire but not in the way Constantinople is
