The kids around the area were probably effected emotionally considering it took place near homes and such that destroyed places that they played and grew up at so it wasn’t great on them that’s for surs

Depending where these children lived, their lives were affected very differently. They could have been hurt emotionally, mentally, and physically. Some children even had jobs in the war. They were bugle boys, drummer boys, messengers, or in some cases, soldiers. Even though you wouldn't think the bugle boys, drummer boys, and messengers suffered as much as the solders did, they suffered just as much. The children got hurt and sick, they were away from their families, and on top of that, they were only kids.
