The answer is a sea monster. Merovech is the semi-renowned forefather of the Merovingian empire of the Salian Franks, which later developed the leading Frankish tribe. He is said to be one of numerous barbarian generals and rulers that merged together forces with the Roman general Aetius contrary to the Huns under Attila. It was said that Merovech was the child of the queen, Chlodio's wife; but his father was a sea-god.
