The big one that is often overlooked was the semi-secret Soviet-Nazi nonaggression pact which Hitler would famously violate less than 3 years later, while a shocked-most likely he'd've been diagnosed literally w/medical shock-Stalin sat and stared at the wall while the German's Blitzed hundreds of miles into his country. It's also a little-known fact that Stalin was more sadistic, evil, responsible for more deaths,&a more incompetent Military leader than Hitler, he simply had the better allies. There was a 100% secret clause in the partially secret Soviet-Nazi non-aggression pact that called for splitting Poland between the2 countries.

Another factor is England's terribly weak leader, Neville Chamberlain, his reaction to Hitler's treachery after the Munich agreement can be compared to Stalin's. Poland was the first country to stand up to Hitler-the war truly&logistically when Hitler moved troops into the Rhineland on March 7, 1936 (the Japanese invasion of Manchuria may have been 1st, but we're talking Europe) The Democratic countries most notably world powers England and France did nothing. Next, through political maneuvering, Hitler was able to succeed at the Anchluss-Union w/his home country of Austria. All the while, even before the troops went into the Rhineland in direct violation of the treaty of Vers., Hitler had reintroduced a draft and began building a Navy&building the Luftwaffe (also violations of the treaty&the other nations did nothing.
