The effect of the Russo-Japanese War was a big disaster for Russia. The idea was to spur patriotism in the Russian citizens towards the leader, the Tzar. Ultimately, it did quite the opposite because the war was so far away (most of the people lived near Moscow and when any news of the war finally arrived, it was met with contempt and little no enthusiasm. People felt the war had no meaning and many Russian political parties took advantage of the unrest to encourage work strikes and also during this time, several political leaders like Grand Duke Sergius were murdered causing further ill feelings. In the end, Russia's naval force was destroyed and their only port along the Eastern coast was captured. Political and public chaos spread of course.

In basis, the Russo-Japanese War did nothing for the Tzar and only turned his people against him and encouraged political unrest.
