    As in every totalitarian state, everything was subordinated to the ideals and interests of the state itself. It didn't serve the citizens, but they had to serve it. It pervaded all the aspects of social, cultural, individual, personal lives of its citizens, dictating how they should live, introducing rigid norms (such as denouncing all the non-Arian people, especially Jews; forbidden homosexuality and other forms of "deviant" behavior), burning books and other works of art that were deemed as detrimental to the mental health of the nation ...
