How did the articles of confederation brought changed to the American confederation in the period of 1776 to 1787 identify the strengths and the weaknesses in order to explain why a new form government was needed for the young country

    The Articles of confederation was weak. To summarize, it essentially gave states much more power than the federal government; only states could raise taxes and there were no president during this. It was until shays rebellion that the founding fathers realized they needed a new constitution.

    Strengths - won revolutionary war, banned slavery in northwest territory and created northwest ordinance of 1787

    Weaknesses - bad economy and weak federal gov
