Name the first three nations to break away from the Soviet Union in late 1989. Yugoslavia Poland Hungary Romania Finland East Germany

    Yugoslavia, although it was socialist too, never really was in an association with the Soviet Union. Finland was not socialist, but capitalist.

    Out of the remaining four, Romania was the last to break away, so the correct answer is: Poland, Hungary and East Germany.
