if the square is perfectly 12 cm on each side take; 12*12=144 so the area of the square would be 144cm because you are doing L*W=Area

area of a square = side^2
measurement of a side = 12 cm
A = side * side
A = (12*12) cm
A = 144 cm^2
so area of a square is 144 cm square
