An increasing number of federal court vacancies have been filled by women since Jimmy Carter was president. This was seen in both Democratic and Republican administrations. Most have speculated that female judges tend to be more liberal when making judgments. However, this was claim was disproved by a study that looked at thousand cases. It was determined that there was rarely any difference between the decisions of female and male judges.
