Formally known as the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), Reagan tried to be a step ahead against the Russians in the Cold War. However, some Soviet analysts and critics in the US, considered that the costs to implement that strategy were too high and the technology at that time was limited to reach the original goals of the program.
