    The American Northeast:

A total of eleven states are part of the Northeast (New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, and Pennsylvania). Traditionally, the Northeast comprises the geographical regions of New England and the Middle Atlantic. It is the region on which the Pilgrims settled in what today is known as Massachusetts. The Northeast is home of many largest cities such as New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. Almost 60 million people live in the Northeast, mainly working-class people. The Northeast is America's most economically developed region. It is one of the country's most ethnically diverse regions, with population of English, French, Dutch, Italian, Hispanic, and Jewish descent. A famous cultural landmark is the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the French government in order to commemorate the American Independence.
