Why did the case against alger hiss increase fears of communist influence in the u. s. government?

    Alger Hiss has become one of the notorious American government officials over the course of the Cold War because of his accusations being a Soviet spy at that time. His convictions were, of course, made the America alarmed of the threat of the Soviet Union on installing its principles of communism.
