The Treaty of Versailles (signed in 1919) was the treaty between Germany and the Allied Powers that ultimately put an end to World War I, which mostly consisted of Germany taking all the blame for the damages and losses during the War, and therefore generating resentment that led to the rise of Nazism in Germany and the start of World War II.
