The correct answer is A. Because all three major candidates were Progressive, Progressive votes were split. This was especially true for the Republican Party. The Republican Party picked William Howard Taft as their candidate. This upset Teddy Roosevelt, as he felt he should have been the Republican Party nominee. As a result, Roosevelt forms the Progressive Party. From there, these two Progressives square off against Woodrow Wilson. Wilson is a Progressive Democrat, and the eventual winner of the 1912 election.
