Why does senator serve longer term than representative

    I am not 100% certain but it may be because representatives are the examples of what a state wants and they can place their votes to hopefully benefit their people (representatives serve a shorter term because if the people don't like them they won't have to stay with them as long) while a senator doesn't cause as much as a difference for each individual state.
