    A) Nixon resigned as President.

    Explanation:

President Richard Nixon had ordered to spy the Democratic campaign in 1972. When the issue was revealed, there were judicial, legislative and journalistic investigations. Ultimately, the president's responsibility was confirmed by the Supreme Court. Accused of power abuse, obstruction of justice and other offenses, the House Judiciary Committee voted to impeach him. He had no chances and was going to be impached by the Senate. He preferred to resign on August 9, 1974.
