    Answer and Explanation:

The problems that challenged Rome in the 200s C. E. were threats from the tribes that existed beyond Rhine and Danube around the northern borders, and the Persians who expelled the Parthian rulers around the eastern borders. In addition, there was internal strife within Rome; it emanated from the citizens and army.

The region around north, beyond the Roman Empire, was restless because the existing tribes attacked and destroyed Roman settlements around mid-200s C. E.

The region around the eastern border was also restless: the Persians fought the citizens of the Parthian empire and expelled them from the region. After the Persians won, they attacked Rome and defeated its armies which were ruled by three Roman emperors.

Coupled with the restlessness beyond the northern and eastern borders, internal strife was also a challenge: Roman citizens lost trust in their armies, and the armies lost trust in their emperors. There was so much tension that eventually lead to instability in the empire, and incessant killings of emperors.
